Dr. Hitoshi Nakagawa

Dr. Hitoshi Nakagawa is a plant breeder and geneticist and has been working on cytology and breeding of tropical grasses, with developing 9 cultivars of guinea grass, Rhodes grass, sorghum etc, as well as genetic researches toward isolation of apomixis gene(s) in guinea grass and biomass research.

Dr. Hitoshi Nakagawa was awarded Award of Japanese Society of Breeding in 1995 (Development of apomictic guineagrass cvs. Natsukaze and Natsuyutaka) and Award of Japanese Society of Grassland Science in 2005 (Research on cytology and breeding of some tropical grasses and its application).
